This breathtaking cameo was taken directly from the 1800’s Grand Tour Souvenir lava original. When I purchased the antique piece it was in need of repairs, was quite damaged. After doing some restoration work on it I can offer our basalts resin replica to you for your own creations. This piece comes poured in grey Basalts, it can be left as is or you can add a wash to pop up the details.

An interesting historical note, as more and more artifacts were discovered in Pompeii these lava cameos became very popular. Though traditionally referred to as "lava" they are not actually lava, but rather carved in the dark colored limestones that are indigenous to the region.
