Kochis is from the Persian word: koch; meaning migration. They are a tribe of Afghan nomads with a peaceful pastoral lifestyle. True wandering gypsies moving between the borders of Afghanistan and Pakistan during the Summer and Winter seasons. The unique jewelry they create is hand forged of authentic world coins, the silver is referred to as "gillet." Incorporating design elements from many cultures. Using colorful glass jewels, coins, shells, beads and metal ball bells, often blended with beadwork and embroidery.

The traditional look of these pieces date back 3000 years and is created in the same manner. Circa 1960's with dates on the coins from the 1940's. Each piece is unique, the coins have a bail on the top, some of the glass jewels are worn matte, some are shiny. As found condition, you can polish them to a shine if you prefer. They are incredible to add to mixed media, jewelry, make great pendants, necklaces, earrings.
