"Special Delivery" with RELICS & ARTIFACT® Ambassador Monica Downing
All I could think when I saw this vintage post office box door at a local antique store was, “WOW! I HAVE TO HAVE IT!” and have it I did. As a matter of fact I bought two of the three they had in stock. I knew right away that I wanted to use this for a journal or mini album cover and I’m so excited to share this project with you.
I started putting it together in my head and looking for what I could use. Because I had just received my order of Susan Lenart Kasmer's ICE Resin® and Iced Enamels®, I knew I was going to incorporate those items.
I was greatly inspired by Lynne Moncrieff’s article in the Sept/Oct issue of Somerset Studio and it gave me the courage to use the Ice Resin® on the pages of my mini album. I had also received Cat Kerr’s new set of stamps and knew they would be perfect for this project.
Ok, so now to put this all together. On the cover, I used two of the RELICS & ARTIFACTS® Dresden trim pieces from "Coat of Arms" and covered them with Iced Enamels®. I wanted them to look like flowers and they totally do. To add to the mood the flowers were setting, I painted the small butterfly from the "Papillon" set.
I attached the pages behind the box door with binder rings and tied some beautiful sari ribbon and Bohemian Jewels to bling it up.
Would you believe that the base of my pages are actually extra large tea bags I saved after brewing a pitcher of tea? I cut one side at the seam and emptied out the tea leaves. Needless to say, we drank a lot of tea before I had enough pages!
How would you like to flip through my journal and see the rest of the pages? Here they are! They are covered with different types of mediums and colors that make each of them unique.
Washi Tape, stickers, Ice Resin Iced Enamels, a feather butterfly and the beautiful clear RELIVS & ARTIFACTS® Bohemian Jewels (image 12)
The inside of the back page of the journal cover has a little of everything.
The literal icing on each one of these pages, is the Susan Lenart Kazmer ICE Resin®. I love working with it, the outcome of it and what it adds to not only these pages in this book, but everything I use it on is just so finished.
I love how this book came out and I can’t wait to figure out what to do with the other vintage post office box door I bought that day, so stay tuned.
