"Inspire" and Internal Growth with RELICS & ARTIFACTS® Ambassador Chrissy Colón

When we put aside our own insecurities and self-criticisms, it's truly amazing what we are able to accomplish whether that be with writing, creating, or just simply "being". We all give a teeny bit of our ourselves in our own different ways and when that teeny bit of our heart is given away, something new grows in its place. For me, I'm having to really think about how I write and present things.

I'm not a metaphysical person. I never have a backstory for my work and quite frankly, it's always more like, "So I just whipped this out with no idea as to what I was doing because, well, I felt like it, now tell me it's pretty!" I've learned during my very short time here on the RELICS & ARTIFACTS® team that you know what? THAT'S OK! It's part of who I am and how I express myself. I'm not a fairy tale writer. To put in my own geeky comic book terms a bit, I'm not Professor Xavier. I'm more like, let's see, Deadpool in my approach. But I am working on it. I am working on grooming and growing my own writing style so that it's still MY voice but maybe presented in a different way.

I'm a simple crafter. I don't have any professional training and am amazed at the work I see from the people on this team. Rather than criticize myself about my own (falsely) perceived shortcomings, I strive to learn that new technique Heather may have used, or apply resin in a way that Kimberly did. And I really, REALLY want to learn soldering like Debby and Cat, just to name a few examples.

Instead of constantly comparing our creations and how we write and present our works to the public, embrace the differences because that is what makes art so unique.  It's different perspectives and presentations of ideas.  After all, do we really want to just like someone else?
