"Home Tweet Home" with RELICS & ARTIFACTS® AMBASSADOR Monica Downing
Straight out of the gate, I gotta tell ya, this project is one of my favorites. Not only was it one of the easiest projects I’ve done, but I just love how it turned out. I love birdies and butterflies and faeries and dragonflies. Seeing my art, that is not hard to figure out.
I wanted to do something really different, something unique, that I had never seen before. I love dimension and texture in a project so that was my driving force for this design. I was looking at the frame, and I already knew which Relics & Artifacts® pieces I wanted to use with it. I asked myself, "What could I do to make this different, something that would just take it to another level?"
When I was at the market a lady in line in front of me had what must have been close to thirty cans of cat food in her cart. (crazy cat lady much???) The light in my art brain went on and I swung my cart around and headed to the cat food aisle. I could see that the small can just might be a perfect fit behind the opening of the ornate frame, so I threw a couple in my cart and couldn’t wait to get home. I literally squealed when I put the pieces together and the project just naturally evolved from there.
My little birdie now had the perfect little home for her nest, beautiful flowers, and regal rusty RELICS & ARTIFACTS® pieces.
I am always looking at everyday things as possible project pieces. Really, when you think about it, nothing is off limits. Open your eyes and your mind to possibilities and really great things will happen.
I encourage you to try something different; do something funky and unique. Try your hand at turning a found object into a work of art or home décor. Don’t forget to share your brilliance with everyone in the RELICS & ARTIFACTS® Tribe on Facebook. I can’t wait to see what you come with!
