When I first received the Artist Model Sandra created I was in awe, I also knew I wanted her to stand, since she was not flat on her back I also knew I had to come up with a plan for her to be three dimensional all around. The spark of my vision came together when Sandra gave us a head wrap challenge. I first stamped Mantilla onto canvas but I thought it was too rigid, that gave me the idea to try it in clay since I already knew it fit her. So I took care of photographing my work as it progressed to make you a tutorial of sorts and walk you through my design process.

Portugal stamp is my favorite stamp from the new Tapestries set because it reminds me of the old floors in my grandmas home when I was growing up. I thought it could make the perfect pattern to incorporate on the fabric of my skirt. I love manipulating clay into fabric folds, so I left it curing overnight in the shape I wanted.

After realizing Mantilla was the a perfect fit for the face I decided to really dress her up with a flair and when I tried the Pangaea stamp it really fir her torso like it was made for her! What a pretty bustier it created, all I had to do was trim it to fit her bust line!

Then I incorporated my favorite Lego pieces from the Milagros set, that gave me hands and legs. After a gesso coating of all her parts I started the painting process. I made sure all the pieces were glued in with gel medium and I used a piece of recycled aluminum from a fallen electrical post, a memory of Hurricane Maria to give her the support she needed to stand.
