In my previous Muse post, I shared with you how much I enjoy the opportunity I have being an international instructor for the Relics & Artifacts® line. These pieces and embellishments can be incorporated so easily into mixed media artwork and it’s my pleasure to share my knowledge with students as the starting point of their creative journeys.
No matter where I am teaching, I am always amazed by the creativity of my students and what their finished projects look like – many times with my jaw hitting the floor! Part of being an artist is to be inspired by others, and with each group of students I’m always left with a new perspective in regards to composition or color combinations.
Today I’d like to take the opportunity to inspire you with just some of the projects that were created recently in some of my classes. This is my chance to introduce you to just a small selection of artwork that showcases some of the new Relics pieces from other mixed media artists. For some of these artists, this was the first time that they had ever created a mixed media project!
All of these projects were made in the "Relics Art Board" class where all students begin with a 8" x 10" blank canvas, a wooden tray to be used as an inner frame, their choice of Relics and Dresden trims, and a variety of other found objects and ephemera. Students chose their own layouts and color choices and asked for direction only when needed.
