The human heart has been identified with Love as far back as the ancient Greeks. Our heart has long been linked to our strongest innermost emotions. Aristotle and Plato both wrote of “Love in the chest” and believing the heart reins supreme. The Romans credited Venus the goddess of Love for setting hearts on fire along with Cupid’s love darts. There was also the curious belief that there was a vein extending from the fourth finger of the left hand directly to the heart (Vena Amoris), this is why the wedding band came to be used. During Medieval times a troubadour was expected to pledge his whole heart to only one woman in “Fin Amor.” In 1344 the first known image of a stylized heart with a two lobes and a vee point appeared. From that moment on the iconic image flourished and grew with countless designs in every medium from paint to sculpture. Our 4 piece set is meant to be arranged in your own personal way.
